Winter Haven
The State of Florida is a state in the southeastern United States. Florida is situated mostly on a large peninsula between the Gulf of Mexico, the Atlantic Ocean, and the Straits of Florida. It extends to the northwest into a panhandle, extending along the northern Gulf of Mexico. Florida's nickname is the Sunshine State but severe weather is a common occurrence in the state. It is bordered on the north by the states of Georgia and Alabama, and on the west, at the end of the panhandle, by Alabama.
Winter Haven is a city in Polk County, Florida, United States. The city is best known as the home of Cypress Gardens, a theme park which has recently gone through renovations to add thrill rides.. This city is a unique, Premier City. It has countless recreational, social and special events; it has a robust and diverse economy and it is centrally located, between two major metropolitan areas.
Winter Haven has year round recreation weather, 50 lakes with 24 connected by a system of canals, which was constructed in the 1920’s. Florida’s first theme park Cypress Gardens Adventure Park beautiful municipal parks with unique sculptures displayed in them great restaurants and a new 32,000 square foot state of the art library. The city continues to experience steady growth. The city recognizes the importance of a high quality of life to Winter Haven residents and strives everyday to meet the needs of its citizens and visitors.
According to the U.S Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 65.8 kilometer square. 45.8 kilometer square of it is land and 20 kilometer square is water. The population was 26,487 at the 2000 census, 27,855 at the 2004 and 29,501 at the 2005 U.S. census. In the city, the population was spread out with 20.9 percent under the age of 18, 6.8 percent from 18 to 24, 23.5 percent from 25 to 44, 21.4 percent from 45 to 64, and 27.4 percent who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 44 years. For every 100 females there were 85.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 81.2 males. The city is often regarded as among the most beautiful parts of U.S, it is one of the most visited places amongst the most die hard travelers the world over.
