Windermere




The State of Florida is a state in the southeastern United States. Florida is situated mostly on a large peninsula between the Gulf of Mexico, the Atlantic Ocean and the Straits of Florida. It extends to the northwest into a panhandle, extending along the northern gulf of mexico. Florida's nickname is the Sunshine State but severe weather is a common occurrence in the state. It is bordered on the north by the states of Georgia and Alabama and on the west, at the end of the panhandle, by Alabama.
 
The Town of Windermere is located in southwest orange county fourteen miles southwest of orlando, six miles southeast of Winter Garden, two miles south of Ocoee and approximately six miles north of walt disney world. Windermere is surrounded by sand bottom lakes. Lake Butler which is the largest is on the west, lake down on the east and Lake Bessie on the southeast. By means of a system of canals, butler, down and six other lakes are connected to form what is known as the Butler Chain.
 
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 2.9 kilometer square, all land. As of the 2000 census, the town population was 1,897. According to the U.S. Census Bureau's 2004 estimates, the town had a population of 1,958 and 2,003 of 2005 U.S. Census Estimate. Windermere was established in 1889 and works hard to retain a small town feel. It was once the hometown of famous professional golfer Tiger Woods. However, many celebrities such as Woods actually live in the Isleworth gated community or subdivision which is actually outside the city limits of Windermere but utilize the Windermere mailing address.
 
In the town the population was spread out with 27.5 percent under the age of 18, 5.1 percent from 18 to 24, 25.8 percent from 25 to 44, 30.5 percent from 45 to 64, and 11.1 percent  who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 41 years. For every 100 females there were 104.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 96.3 males. The town is often regarded as among the most beautiful parts of U.S, it is one of the most visited places amongst the most die hard travelers the world over. Today, one can also learn about its history, from its earliest times and gain enthusiasm in its natural beauty and populace.
