Wilton Manors
The State of Florida is a state in the southeastern United States. Florida is situated mostly on a large peninsula between the Gulf of Mexico, the Atlantic Ocean and the Straits of Florida. It extends to the northwest into a panhandle, extending along the northern Gulf of Mexico. Florida's nickname is the Sunshine State but severe weather is a common occurrence in the state. It is bordered on the north by the states of Georgia and Alabama and on the west at the end of the panhandle by Alabama.
Wilton Manors is a city in Broward County, Florida, United States which is part of the Fort Lauderdale, Florida metropolitan area. It was the second city in the United States to elect a majority gay city council and is one of the nation's premiere gay friendly destinations. Wilton Manors, the Island city was incorporated in 1947. It is bordered on the north by the north Fork of the middle river and the city of Oakland park to the south, the boundaries include the south Fork of the middle river and the city of Fort Lauderdale the eastern terminus of the city limits extend to near Federal highway and the western most boundary reaches Interstate 95.
According to the United States census bureau, the city has a total area of 5.0 square kilometers is all occupied by land. The population of the city was 12,858 in 2005 census. In the city the population was spread out with 16.6 percent under the age of 18, 6.3 percent from 18 to 24, 36.4 percent from 25 to 44, 25.0 percent from 45 to 64 and 15.7 percent who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 40 years. For every 100 females there were 123.7 males and for every 100 females age 18 and over there were 128.2 males.
