The State of Florida is a state in the southeastern United States. Florida is situated mostly on a large peninsula between the Gulf of Mexico, the Atlantic Ocean and the Straits of Florida. It extends to the northwest into a panhandle extending along the northern Gulf of Mexico. Florida's nickname is the Sunshine State but severe weather is a common occurrence in the state. It is bordered on the north by the states of Georgia and Alabama and on the west at the end of the panhandle by Alabama.
 
Wewahitchka is a city in Gulf County, Florida, United States. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 19.2 square kilometers out of which 16.1 square kilometers is land and 3.2 square kilometers of it, that is 16.42 percent is water. The population was 1,722 at the 2000 census and 1,691 of 2005 United States Census estimate ,according to the Census Bureau's 2004 estimates, the city had a population of 1,703.

In the city the total population was spread out with 26.8 percent under the age of 18, 7.4 percent from 18 to 24, 24.0 percent from 25 to 44, 25.0 percent from 45 to 64 and 16.8 percent who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 39 years, for every 100 females there were 90.7 males and for every 100 females age 18 and over there were 85.7 males. Males had a median income of 26,023 dollars versus 19,886 dollars for females. The per capita income for the city was 13,731 dollars. The Wewahitchka city is undergoing some improvement in various fields to make the economic condition of the city better.
