Safety Harbor




The State of Florida is a state in the southeastern United States. Florida is situated mostly on a large peninsula between the Gulf of Mexico, the Atlantic Ocean and the Straits of Florida. It extends to the northwest into a panhandle, extending along the northern Gulf of Mexico. Florida's nickname is the Sunshine State but severe weather is a common occurrence in the state. It is bordered on the north by the states of Georgia and Alabama, and on the west, at the end of the panhandle, by Alabama.
 
Safety Harbor is a city in Pinellas County, Florida, United States. It was incorporated in 1917. As of 2004, the population recorded by the U.S Census Bureau is 17,550 and in 2005, it was 17,517. Today 17,800 people call Safety Harbor their home. Primarily a residential community, the city has maintained its character of a family oriented community with small town charm while preserving our environmentally sensitive lands and revitalizing our historic downtown business district. According to the U.S census Bureau, the city has a total area of 13.1 kilometer square. 2.7 kilometer square of it is land and 0.3 kilometer square of it that is 2.57 percent is water.
 
As of the census in 2000, there were 17,203 people, 7,084 households, and 4,845 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,350.0 per kilometer square. There were 7,483 housing units at an average density of 587.2 per kilometer square. The racial make up of the city was 92.23 percent. While 4.14 percent African American, 0.24 percent Native American, 1.68 percent Asian, 0.05 percent Pacific Islander, 0.44 percent from other races, and 1.21 percent from two or more races.
 
In the city the population was spread out with 21.8 percent under the age of 18, 4.9 percent from 18 to 24, 28.6 percent from 25 to 44, 27.4 percent from 45 to 64, and 17.3 percent who were 65 years of age or older. The medium age was 42 years. For every 100 females there were 91.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 87.1 males.

The city is often regarded as among the most beautiful parts of U.S, it is one of the most visited places amongst the most die hard travelers the world over. Today, one can also learn about its history, from its earliest times and gain enthusiasm in its natural beauty and populace.
