Polk City




The State of Florida is a state in the southeastern United States. Florida is situated mostly on a large peninsula between the Gulf of Mexico, the Atlantic Ocean, and the Straits of Florida. It extends to the northwest into a panhandle, extending along the northern Gulf of Mexico. Florida's nickname is the Sunshine State but severe weather is a common occurrence in the state. It is bordered on the north by the states of Georgia and Alabama, and on the west, at the end of the panhandle, by Alabama.
 
Polk City is a city in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,516 at the 2000 census. As of 2004, the population recorded by the U.S. Census Bureau is 1,515.  Polk City was incorporated in 1925 and, like the county, is named after James Knox Polk, the eleventh president of the United States. Polk City is governed by a five-person council who elect a mayor and vice mayor from their membership. The fictional Orlampa, Florida is in Polk City.
 
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 2.0 square kilometers, all land. The area where Polk City is located contains the highest elevations of the Floridan Aquifer. In the town the population was spread out with 29.8 percent  under the age of 18, 7.4 percent  from 18 to 24, 32.4 percent from 25 to 44, 19.9 percent from 45 to 64, and 10.6 percent who were 65 years of age or older.

It can also be considered as the preeminent, historical and potential tourism destination that enjoys a very positive reputation with worldwide travelers to become one of the most visited places.
