Panama City




The State of Florida is a state in the southeastern United States. Florida is situated mostly on a large peninsula between the Gulf of Mexico, the Atlantic Ocean, and the Straits of Florida. It extends to the northwest into a panhandle, extending along the northern Gulf of Mexico. Florida's nickname is the Sunshine State but severe weather is a common occurrence in the state. It is bordered on the north by the states of Georgia and Alabama, and on the west, at the end of the panhandle, by Alabama.
 
Panama City is a city located along U.S. in Bay County, Florida. It is the largest city between Pensacola, Florida and Tallahassee, Florida. It is the larger of two principal cities of the Panama City-Lynn Haven, Florida Metropolitan Statistical Area. As of the 2000 census, the city population was 36,417, by 2004, the city's population had grown to 37,079, according to census bureau estimates and 37,188. It is the county seat of Bay County and is located just east of the vacation destination Panama City Beach.
 
Although Native Americans had consistently frequented the St.Andrew's Bay, by the 1830s landowners from Georgia and Alabama had begun to summer on the bay shore approximately a mile west from what was to become, in 1909, Panama City. In fact, until the controversial consolidation of St. Andrew’s to the west and Millville on the east with the relatively new development of Panama City in 1926, St. Andrew's was the chief town in the region that is now known as Bay County. During Panama City's 1909 incorporation, the area was still part of Washington County. When Panama City was incorporated, its city limits were 15th Street on the north, Balboa Avenue on the west and Bay Avenue on the east.
 
Panama City's attributes provide a highly attractive living environment compatible with a variety of tastes and life styles. Cited most often are pleasant climate, attractive housing opportunities, fishing and water sports, arts and entertainment, and a pleasing small town environment for raising a family. In 2006, Panama City was named the best place to invest in real estate in the US by CNN's Business 2.0 magazine.

Panama City is located on the panhandle of northwest Florida on beautiful St. Andrews Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. Panama City is known as a popular tourist location year round offering a comfortable climate and friendly atmosphere.
