Frostproof
The State of Florida is a state in the southeastern United States. Florida is situated mostly on a large peninsula between the Gulf of Mexico, the Atlantic Ocean, and the Straits of Florida. It extends to the northwest into a panhandle, extending along the northern Gulf of Mexico. Florida's nickname is the Sunshine State but severe weather is a common occurrence in the state. It is bordered on the north by the states of Georgia and Alabama, and on the west, at the end of the panhandle, by Alabama.
Frostproof is a city in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population of the city was 2,975 at the 2000 census. As of 2004, the population recorded was 2,954. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 6.4 square kilometers, all covered by land. The population density of the city was 461.3 per square kilometers. There were 1,504 housing units at an average density of 233.2 per square kilometers. The city of Frostproof is a tiny town tucked between Clinch Lake and Lake Reedy in the south east corner of Polk County, in the central portion of Florida. This area is known as part of the ridge, a series of long, slow rolling hills of various types of sand, limestone, lakes and creeks.
In the city the population was spread out with 26.7 percent under the age of 18, 11.2 percent from 18 to 24, 23.6 percent from 25 to 44, 20.5 percent from 45 to 64, and 18.1 percent who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 35 years. For every 100 females there were 101.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 98.5 males.
Presently, Frostproof experiences a sharp social, economic and population growth derivative of the strategic position of the locality and the high level of well being and quality of life that is enjoyed with respect to other places of Florida. This fact has consolidated along with other adjacent cities, as a great alternative for residence.
