Delray Beach




The State of Florida is a state in the southeastern United States. Florida is situated mostly on a large peninsula between the Gulf of Mexico, the Atlantic Ocean, and the Straits of Florida. It extends to the northwest into a panhandle, extending along the northern Gulf of Mexico. Florida's nickname is the Sunshine State but severe weather is a common occurrence in the state. It is bordered on the north by the states of Georgia and Alabama, and on the west, at the end of the panhandle, by Alabama.
 
Delray Beach is located in the southern end of Palm Beach County. Delray Beach was settled as an agricultural community in 1895. First incorporated in 1911, it became the City of Delray Beach on May 11, 1927.  The city has experienced substantial growth from 1,015 people in 1920 to 64,000 people today. Delray Beach is truly a unique city.  From its award winning public beaches and vibrant downtown nightlife to its excellent neighborhoods, bustling economy, and abundance of cultural activities, Delray Beach offers an unparalleled quality of life.
 
The city was recognized as an all America city in 1993, was a finalist in the 1998 competition, and has been recognized again as an All-America City in 2001.  This makes Delray Beach the only Florida city to ever win the designation twice. In 1993 the citizens were honored for their community neighborhood efforts, school improvement initiatives and the culture and arts complex.
 
Delray Beach population was 64,757 in 2005 year. Delray Beach has grown and prospered. A small group of Michigan settlers, led by William Linton and David Swinton began settling in the area in 1894. Inspired by the natural riches of the area, they tilled the land and grew crops year round. The environment also provided them with plenty of fresh fish, crab and lobster from the ocean. As the 20th century progressed Delray Beach grew from a farming community into a bustling city known for its unique architecture and thriving downtown.
 
Delray Beach is considered a leading figure in the state's growing historic preservation movement. The city has designated several neighborhoods as historic districts. Cornell Museum of Art & History at Old School Square.

Delray Beach is said the place of best geographical environment and can trace its origins back to prehistoric times. It enjoys a very positive reputation with worldwide travelers.
