Cape Canaveral




The state of Florida is a state in the south eastern United States. Florida is situated mostly on a large peninsula between the Gulf of Mexico, the Atlantic Ocean and the Straits of Florida. It extends to the northwest into a panhandle, extending along the northern Gulf of Mexico. Florida's nickname is the Sunshine state but severe weather is a common occurrence in the state. It is bordered on the north by the states of Georgia and Alabama, and on the west, at the end of the panhandle, by Alabama.
 
Cape Canaveral is a city in Brevard county, Florida, USA. The population was 8,829 at the 2000 census. According to the U.S Census estimates of 2005, the city had a population of 10,523. The city of Cape Canaveral is located at the northern tip of a barrier island on the Atlantic coast of Florida. It is due south of the geographical feature Cape Canaveral known as Cape Kennedy from 1963 to 1973, which is on Merritt Island. Port Canaveral is an important port for cruise liners, which take on passengers here for cruises to the Caribbean. The population density was 965.8 per square kilometer.
 
According to the United States census bureau, the city has a total area of 6.1 square kilometer. In the city the population was spread out with 11.3 percent under the age of 18, 6.4 percent from 18 to 24, 30.4 percent from 25 to 44, 28 percent from 45 to 64, and 23.1 percent who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 46 years. For every 100 females there were 109.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 107.7 males.

The light house construction was completed in 1847. It was made of brick and 60 feet tall. The Cape Canaveral light house is located on the Cape Canaveral air force station and is generally not open for public access. The city is often regarded as among the most beautiful parts of U.S, it is one of the most visited places amongst the most die hard travelers the world over. Today, one can also learn about its history, from its earliest times and gain enthusiasm in its natural beauty and populace. The city has undergone some improvement in various fields and enjoys a very positive reputation with worldwide travelers.
