Boca Raton




The State of Florida is a state in the southeastern United States. Florida is situated mostly on a large peninsula between the Gulf of Mexico, the Atlantic Ocean, and the Straits of Florida. It extends to the northwest into a panhandle, extending along the northern Gulf of Mexico. Florida's nickname is the Sunshine State but severe weather is a common occurrence in the state. It is bordered on the north by the states of Georgia and Alabama, and on the west, at the end of the panhandle, by Alabama.
 
Boca Raton is a city in Palm Beach County, Florida and was incorporated in May of 1925. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 74,764 and the population according to the census in 2005 was 86,629. The city has a total area of 75.4 square kilometers. The population was spread out with 18.9 percent under the age of 18, 8.1 percent from 18 to 24, 26.4 percent from 25 to 44, 26.7 percent from 45 to 64 and 19.8 percent who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 43 years. For every 100 females there were 95.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92.8 males. The mayor of the city is Steven L. Abrams.

About 120,000 people live in unincorporated areas near the city, so the population with a postal address of Boca Raton is about 200,000. Boca Raton is the largest city between west Palm Beach and Pompano Beach. It has a large transplanted northern population due to an influx of retirees, snowbirds and people who have flocked to south Florida from the northeast. The city provides endless recreational opportunities for visitors and locals with plentiful shopping and beautiful beaches. This place is regarded as a premier vacation destination and rated as top vacation spots in Florida. Hence it is one of the most visited places amongst the most die hard travelers the world over.
