Palm Beach Gardens

The State of Florida is a state in the southeastern United States. Florida is situated mostly on a large peninsula between the Gulf of Mexico, the Atlantic Ocean, and the Straits of Florida. It extends to the northwest into a panhandle, extending along the northern Gulf of Mexico. Florida's nickname is the Sunshine State but severe weather is a common occurrence in the state. It is bordered on the north by the states of Georgia and Alabama, and on the west, at the end of the panhandle, by Alabama.

Palm Beach Gardens is a city in Palm Beach County, Florida, United States. As of 2006, the population recorded by the U.S. Census Bureau is 48,944 and 48,989. The city is in the center of a rapidly developing area just north of West Palm Beach, and has close transportation, entertainment and cultural ties with that neighboring jurisdiction.

Palm Beach Gardens is a signature city which celebrates quality of life by fostering an environment of excellence. With over 30 percent of land mass dedicated to green space, recreation programs tailored for residents of all ages, an award-winning art in public places program, a pro-active business climate that embraces innovation and an intrinsic understanding of the balance between social and economic conditions, Palm Beach Gardens is much more than the ultimate vacation spot.

According to the United States census bureau, the city has a total area of 144.9 square kilometers. In the city the population was spread out with 18.7 percent under the age of 18, 5.1 percent from 18 to 24, 26.3 percent from 25 to 44, 28.9 percent from 45 to 64, and 21.1 percent who were 65 years of age or older.

City growth was slow but steady throughtout the 1970s and 1980s, as the population has still not reached the predicted 55,000 people envisioned by MacArthur. However, the opening of the 1.3 million square foot Gardens Mall in 1988 initiated a new wave of development, as did the sell off in 1999 of approximately 5,000 acres in the city by the John D. and Catherine T MacArthur Foundation, which was developed quickly and led to much new growth in the city.

Palm Beach Gardens can also be considered as the preeminent, historical and potential tourism place that enjoys a very positive reputation with worldwide travelers to become one of the most visited places.
