Oldsmar
The State of Florida is a state in the southeastern United States. Florida is situated mostly on a large peninsula between the Gulf of Mexico, the Atlantic Ocean, and the Straits of Florida. It extends to the northwest into a panhandle, extending along the northern Gulf of Mexico. Florida's nickname is the Sunshine State but severe weather is a common occurrence in the state. It is bordered on the north by the states of Georgia and Alabama, and on the west, at the end of the panhandle, by Alabama.
Oldsmar is a city in Pinellas County, Florida, United States. The population was 11,910 at the 2000 census. As of 2004, the population recorded by the U.S. Census Bureau is 13,706 and 13,552.
The City of Oldsmar sits on the Eastern edge of Pinellas County at the Northern end of Tampa Bay. A charming town with lovely oaks and beautifully planted medians, it is like a breath of fresh air in the midst of Pinellas County, the most densely populated county in the State of Florida. Strip malls, fast food restaurants, and crowded highways dominate much of the area, but the little town of Oldsmar has the distinct flavor of a sleepy Florida town.
There is a small town feel augmented by a feeling of space. The city is thoughtfully planned with the streets fanning out from Shore Drive along Tampa Bay. Many houses new and old, grand and modest, sit on large treed lots. The main street in town is State Street, home to City Hall, the Library, and the fire station. Park Boulevard stretches from City Hall on State Street to R. E. Olds Park located on the edge of the sparkling waters of Old Tampa Bay. The view of the bay is spectacular from Shore Drive.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 25.0 square kilometers. 23.1 square kilometers of it is land and 1.9 square kilometers of it is water. In the city the population was spread out with 26.6 percent under the age of 18, 6.6 percent from 18 to 24, 35.2 percent from 25 to 44, 20.4 percent from 45 to 64, and 11.2 percent who were 65 years of age or older.
Oldsmar is definitely one of the popular tourist attractions in Florida worth paying a visit while touring the country. This place leaves a pleasing and unforgettable memory and justifies the proud cultural tradition of Florida.
