North Bay Village
The State of Florida is a state in the southeastern United States. Florida is situated mostly on a large peninsula between the Gulf of Mexico, the Atlantic Ocean, and the Straits of Florida. It extends to the northwest into a panhandle, extending along the northern Gulf of Mexico. Florida's nickname is the Sunshine State but severe weather is a common occurrence in the state. It is bordered on the north by the states of Georgia and Alabama, and on the west, at the end of the panhandle, by Alabama.
North Bay Village is a city located in Miami-Dade County, Florida. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 6,733. As of 2004, the population recorded by the U.S. census bureau was 6,819. 7,615.
Prior to 1940, most of what is now North Bay Village lay beneath the waters of Biscayne Bay. The only dry land was Broadcast Key, a five-acre island from which pioneer radio station WIOD began broadcasting in 1926. Today, television station WSVN-TV maintains its headquarters at this same site, now joined with Treasure Island. In 1940, dredging and bulk-heading created North Bay Island. By 1941, palm-lined streets had been laid out, and 12 homes had been built and occupied. Today, the island has grown into a lush neighborhood of attractive single-family residences.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 2.2 square kilometers. In the city the population was spread out with 16.8 percent under the age of 18, 8.8 percent from 18 to 24, 42.0 percent from 25 to 44, 20.2 percent from 45 to 64, and 12.1 percent who were 65 years of age or older.
North Bay Village is definitely one of the popular tourist attractions in Florida worth paying a visit while touring the country. This place leaves a pleasing and unforgettable memory and justifies the proud cultural tradition of Florida.
