New Port Richey




The State of Florida is a state in the southeastern United States. Florida is situated mostly on a large peninsula between the Gulf of Mexico, the Atlantic Ocean, and the Straits of Florida. It extends to the northwest into a panhandle, extending along the northern Gulf of Mexico. Florida's nickname is the Sunshine State but severe weather is a common occurrence in the state. It is bordered on the north by the states of Georgia and Alabama, and on the west, at the end of the panhandle, by Alabama.
 
New Port Richey is a city in Pasco County, Florida, United States. The population was 16,117 at the 2000 census. As of 2004, the population recorded by the U.S. Census Bureau is 16,675.
 
Pasco County is ranked as one the fasting growing counties in Florida, according to The St. Petersburg Times. Pasco’s city of New Port Richey attracts new residents and visitors at an increasing rate each year based on several factors. New Port Richey’s geography blends nature, beaches and great shopping with restaurants, culture and business all with a small-town feel.  Major attractions are nearby.  New Port Richey is rich in history and a town alive with happenings. It is located in the West Central part of Pasco, the city of New Port Richey has a total area of 4.6 miles. The Gulf of Mexico coastline borders the west side and the Pithlachascotee River runs through the city. New Port Richey is considered part of the Tampa Bay area, a mecca filled with major attractions and hot spots for recreation, sports and culture.
 
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 11.9 square kilometers. 11.7 square kilometers of it is land and 0.2 square kilometers of it is water. In the city the population was spread out with 19.1 percent under the age of 18, 7.4 percent  from 18 to 24, 24.5 percent from 25 to 44, 20.7 percent from 45 to 64, and 28.3 percent  who were 65 years of age or older.
 
A city known for its historic myths and traditions, scenic beauty, cooperative people and luxurious hotels and cottages, New Port Richey is one of the favorite holiday destinations for most of the vacation lovers.
