Marathon
The State of Florida is a state in the southeastern United States. Florida is situated mostly on a large peninsula between the Gulf of Mexico, the Atlantic Ocean, and the Straits of Florida. It extends to the northwest into a panhandle, extending along the northern Gulf of Mexico. Florida's nickname is the Sunshine State but severe weather is a common occurrence in the state. It is bordered on the north by the states of Georgia and Alabama, and on the west, at the end of the panhandle, by Alabama.
Marathon is a city on Boot Key, Key Vaca, Fat Deer Key, Long Point Key, Crawl Key and Grassy Key islands in the middle Florida Keys, in Monroe County, Florida, in the United States. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 10,255. As of 2005, the population recorded by the U.S. census bureau is 10,626. According to the United States census bureau, the city has a total area of 25.0 square kilometers.
In the city the population was spread out with 17.3 percent under the age of 18, 6.1 percent from 18 to 24, 28.6 percent from 25 to 44, 32.0 percent from 45 to 64, and 16.0 percent who were 65 years of age or older. For every 100 females there were 110.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 111.7 males.
Marathon is definitely one of the popular tourist attractions in Florida worth paying a visit while touring the country. This place leaves a pleasing and unforgettable memory and justifies the proud cultural tradition of Florida.
