The State of Florida is a state in the southeastern United States. Florida is situated mostly on a large peninsula between the Gulf of Mexico, the Atlantic Ocean, and the Straits of Florida. Lauderdale Lakes is a city in Broward County, Florida, United States. The population was 31,705 at the 2000 census. As of 2004, the population estimated by the U.S. census bureau is 31,639. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 9.4 square kilometers. The population density was 3,409.9 per square kilometers. From their modest beginnings in 1961, to their status today as one of the most culturally diverse communities in Broward County, people continue to be attracted to their convenient location, scenic waterways, comfortable neighborhoods and small town atmosphere.
